چکیده

Previous research has established the importance of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) for weight control. One area unexplored investigation is relationship between individuals’ perceptions MVPA control and engagement. This study examined associations perceived engagement, loss, barriers to PA, exercise enjoyment in adults enrolled a long-term behavioral loss intervention. Adults (N = 301) with overweight/obesity (BMI 27-45 kg/m2) completed an 18-month BWL intervention, followed by no-intervention follow-up. At baseline, 6 months, 18 months (i.e., post-treatment), 36 follow-up), participants ranked six strategies control: keeping food record, MVPA, light self-weighing, small portions, low-calorie diet. Observed (measured accelerometer), percent were also measured at each assessment. Results showed that most as primary strategy (first, second, or third important) throughout regardless goal (weight vs. maintenance). Individuals who concurrent time points, compared those did not, engaged significantly more post-treatment, had greater follow-up, endorsed fewer PA post-treatment reported baseline post-treatment. Therefore, was related subjective experiences adherence, article protected copyright. All rights reserved.

Characteristics of weight control and physical activity

Anthropometrie measures Body mass index When we speak about the prevalence of obesity in populations, we mean the fraction of people who have excess storage of body fat. ln adult men with weight in the acceptable range, the percentage of body fat is around 15-20%. ln women, this percentage is higher (about 25-30%). Because differences in weight between individuals are only partly due to variati...

Physical Activity Enhancement to a Behavioral Weight Loss Program for Severely Obese Individuals: A Preliminary Investigation

Severe obesity is characterized by low physical activity (PA) and interventions to enhance PA are needed. Participants (45.0 ± 3.9 kg/m2) were randomized to a 6-month standard behavioral weight loss program (SBWL; n = 14) or SBWL+technology (SBWL+TECH; n = 15). Both groups received identical SBWL treatment and SBWL+TECH also received a wearable PA monitor, providing "real-time" feedback, and we...

Adherence to a behavioral weight loss treatment program enhances weight loss and improvements in biomarkers

OBJECTIVES To describe participants' adherence to multiple components (attendance, energy intake, fat gram, exercise goals, and self-monitoring eating and exercise behaviors) of a standard behavioral treatment program (SBT) for weight loss and how adherence to these components may influence weight loss and biomarkers (triglycerides, low density lipoproteins [LDL], high density lipoprotein, and ...
